What is a dog food topper?

A dog food topper is a complementary product added in a small amount to a dog’s usual meal. It can change aroma, taste or texture, but should not replace complete and balanced dog food.

Made from 100% ground ostrich liver with no grains, fillers or additives. This is the simplest option when your goal is to add liver aroma and flavour to your dog’s regular meal.

Ostrich Liver & Parsley Sprinkle

A limited-ingredient blend of slow-dried ostrich liver and dried parsley. It offers the same strong liver aroma with parsley traditionally used for naturally fresher breath. It does not treat dental disease or the underlying causes of persistent bad breath.

How to use a meal topper

1. Begin with a very light sprinkle.
2. Add it to your dog’s normal wet or dry food.
3. Mix it through the meal if your dog eats only the coated pieces.
4. Keep the container sealed and stored in a cool, dry place.
5. Include the topper within your dog’s daily treat allowance.

A topper should encourage interest without teaching your dog to refuse every uncoated meal. Use the smallest effective amount and keep feeding times consistent.

When a fussy eater needs veterinary attention

A dog that occasionally becomes bored with food is different from a dog that suddenly stops eating.
